The 00krew is always out and about, as we strive to bring you the best places to go out and about. This week we found ourselves at Sharon Speedway(Hartford,Ohio). Sharon Speedway is a 3/8 mile dirt track , that is the oldest track in the United States with continous service. In honor of Lou Blaney(one of the owners),Sharon hosted the Lou Blaney Memorial. Several Nascar drivers were there to race in the Sprint car feature. Tony Stewart,Kasey Kahne along with Dale and Dave Blaney were there for the action.
There were two races, the first being the 30 lap Sprint car feature and the 25 lap big block modified race.
Before the action starts, you have to get an order of chicken and fries from one of the concession stands($5 for a heaping pile of fried chicken and fries- worth every penny). Coolers are allowed - however glass is prohibited- so stock up with a 12 pack of cans.
As night fell onto to the track it was time for what everyone was waiting for – the main event. Stewart,Kahne and Blaney all were in the top five to start.
The crowd was pumped up as the green flag waved. On lap 2 Stewart got caught in traffic and crashed. The crash looked worse than it was, as Stewart walked away , aside from bumps and bruises.
After a great job by the emergency and track officials racing was back on. There was great action for the rest of the race.
Sharon Speedway is a great facility and you will have a good time when you visit. The 00krew want to thank the staff and krew of Sharon Speedway for a great night of racing and hospitatlity.
