LOUISVILLE – THE RIVER CITY!!

00krew 10

The 00krew visited Louisville recently and was surprised how much fun we had. Louisville was settled in 1778 and is named after King Louis XVI of France. Louisville is home to Churchill Downs- Home of the Kentucky Derby, held the first Saturday of May- as well as Louisville Slugger and the University of Louisville. Louisville is sometimes known as the northernmost southern city or the southernmost northern city. This mix of culture and geography make Louisville a fun town.

There are two entertainment districts in Louisville. The first is downtown on Market and 4th st. The other is east of downtown on Bardstown road. For this trip the 00krew visited the downtown section. On Main street you come across the Louisville Slugger plant. There are shops and a art museum located nearby.

After walking around and doing some sight seeing, it was time to grab a cold one and some food. We started towards Fourth st. We passed the Courthouse and got a good view of the Louisville skyline.

Fourth Street Live is a two block section that has numerous restaurants and bars and is a hot spot on the weekends.

We stopped at the first place we saw,The Pub. The Pub is little Irish pub with a good selection of Bourbon and Irish Whiskey.

Next up on the list was the S&SC – Sport and Social Club. This place is a sports oriented bar with a 3 lane bowling alley and TV’s galore. Great place to watch a game. The staff is great and will take care of you.

The staff at S&SC said to try out the Third Street Dive, A little dive bar with great music, located one block north on third street.

Back on fourth street, we next went to the Makers Mark Lounge. If you want Bourbon this place has every type imaginable. We also stopped at Sully’s which is right next door.

Now it was time to eat. Most of the places serve food. We decided to go to Eddie Merlot’s for a steak. On the way we stopped at the Irish Pub for a pre-dinner cocktail( the bar was dismantled in Ireland and brought here and reassembled). Very cool place.

and finally some dinner.

After dinner,it was time to see more of Fourth Street Live. The Hard Rock and PBR(A country western bar) are located on Fourth Street as well.

Once again, too much for the 00krew to see in one visit. Louisville is a fun town and the 00krew will be back soon to enjoy more of Louisville. Stay Tuned and Travel Safe!!
